Director of Music for Children & Youth
I have been blessed to have lived through many different experiences in my life. I was introduced to the Swiss musical culture by becoming choir director of the Enzian Ladies Swiss Choir, a local amateur group that sings traditional Swiss folk songs in the four languages of Switzerland in 1997 while a student at the University of Puget Sound here in Tacoma. I had the pleasure of living in Boston, MA for 2 years while studying music (French Horn and conducting) at the New England Conservatory. I was in the beautiful Rocky Mountains, in a town called Breckenridge, for 2 months while playing in the National Repertory Orchestra. But probably the most remarkable experience of my life was experiencing life in Norway for 9 months while on a Fulbright Scholarship. Though I was studying music, I was also learning much about Norwegian culture, experienced the horror of September 11th from Norway, and made friends with many refugees from war-torn countries at the American Lutheran Church in Oslo. These experiences opened my eyes to the beauty of other cultures. I am now thrilled to be living and serving in the Northwest.
