L.O.L.
( Learn Out Loud, Laugh Out Loud, Live Out Loud, Love Out Loud)
L.O.L.. at St. Mark’s takes place each Thursday night for all middle school, junior high and high school students grades 6-12. The mission of this night is to provide an inclusive community of holy creative artists learning to give voice to their stories in safe, nurturing space towards a common goal.
Workshops in the fall are based on interest of the youth involved, areas such as photography and pottery. Workshops in the spring are focused on Theater. Youth can be involved in acting, backstage crew, or as light/sound technicians.
Music groups, both choir and band (includes strings, brass, woodwinds and percussion), meet through the entire year and are focused on using music to enhance worship at St. Mark’s as well as provide music for any art shows and theater productions. The schedule for Thursday evenings will be as follows:
5:30-6:15 PM
WITNESS YOUTH CHOIR
Witness is a vocal choir for all youth who are interested in singing. Opportunities for solos, duets, trios are also available. Youth sing mainly for worship throughout the year as their songs are ready as well as special events for the church. *See Below for Current Music Schedule
CULINARY ARTS WORKSHOP
During this workshop, youth learn alongside adults how to cook recipes that will be served at the Youth Cafe each week.
6:15-6:45 PM
YOUTH CAFE
Youth come together for time to chat and to taste that evening’s cooking creations by the culinary artists.
6:45-8:00 PM
J.A.M. YOUTH BAND
J.A.M. is a “band” for all youth who play an instrument (strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion, handbells). Music is arranged for the ensemble of instruments available and plays mainly for worship as well as special events of the church. **See Below for Current Music Schedule
VISUAL ARTS WORKSHOP
This time is for creativity through a number of different visual arts. For the month of October 2011, youth will focus on photography.
