Stewardship
The Stewardship Ministry Team at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church by the Narrows encompasses education, finances, endowment, memorials, care of our property and Care of Creation. It is in these areas that you can be faithful and responsible for what God has entrusted to you.
Stewardship Opportunities
The Stewardship Education Team has adopted a mission statement: to help us as God’s people to grow in our relationship with Jesus through the use of time, talents, and finances that God has entrusted to us. We propose to accomplish this goal through on-going, year-round education for all ages in our congregation and through a variety of programs. We encourage each of us to share the story of our faith journey often and joyfully. This team is working to provide ways for all of us to be disciples of Jesus. Consider volunteering to use your areas of experience, talent, resources, and joy to help us toward this goal. We meet at 4:30 p.m. one Wednesday a month
Finance Team – The Stewardship Ministry area of St. Mark’s is also responsible for overseeing the financial well-being of the congregation. Finance meets regularly and works closely with the Church Council and the other ministry teams.
Endowment, Memorial, & Scholarship Fund Team – other arms of the Stewardship Ministry, seeks to inform us about wills and estate planning as well as the status and use of our endowment fund at St. Mark’s, and to manage and disburse monies received as memorial and scholarship gifts.
Property Care Team – helps us to be good stewards of all the physical properties that have been entrusted to us. This includes regular maintenance and improvements to the building and grounds. You can join them on a weekly basis or choose a special task and do it on your own time schedule. Currently there is a Thursday crew which gathers every week to do a variety of tasks, both indoors and out. They also enjoy good fellowship around the coffee pot in the kitchen. There are also periodic clean up and special project days scheduled as needed. If you can’t share your maintenance and cleaning skills every week, maybe you can help out a couple of days a years using a building skill of your choice.
Care of Creation Team – During the past year a new group has been convened at St. Marks by the Narrows entitled the Care of Creation Team. Its purpose is to provide leadership to the St. Mark’s family in fostering and modeling environmental stewardship within the church community as well as within the broader community. In 2007 plans include showing the film Inconvenient Truthon Global Warming, a field trip to the Skagit River to see wintering bald eagles, eco-friendly gardening tips and activities leading up to Earth Day. The committee welcomes suggestions for future activities that celebrate God’s creation and encourages all members to join in our activities.
