Erika Anderson, 2/3s Teacher

Erika Anderson Preschool

Hello! I am a married mother of two boys, ages 6 and 9. I was born and raised in Alaska and have lived in Washington over 15 years. I graduated from Pacific Lutheran University and have worked with children’s programs at St. Mark’s since 2010. I find immense joy in guiding children to learn and grow through play. Being outdoors is my favorite and I strive to incorporate nature into our preschool day as often as possible. I enjoy camping, hiking, reading, gardening, volunteering and spending time with my family! I am blessed to work with children and certain I learn as much from them as they do from me!

I am married with two children; our daughter is 12 and our son is 9. (They are both proud St. Mark’s Preschool alumni!) We live in University Place with our two boxers. I have a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona and a master’s degree from Seattle University. I have worked with children’s programs at St. Mark’s since 2008. This will be the fourth year that Miss Erika and I are team teaching together. When I’m not at preschool I can often be found reading, taking our dogs for walks, volunteering at our kids’ schools, working in the garden or spending time with my family and friends. Our family especially loves being on the salt water: fishing, clamming, shrimping and crabbing are some of our favorite activities! I’m looking forward to this coming school year and getting to know all the kids that will be in class with Miss Erika and me!

Kali Hovey, 3/4s Teacher

I am a Tacoma native who has lived in the North End for most of my life and I love this community. My husband and I have two kids; our son attends Point Defiance Elementary and our daughter is at St. Marks in Pre-K this year. I attended Linfield College for my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I also have a Master’s Degree from the University of Washington where I received Special Education and Reading Specialist endorsements. Before deciding to stay home with my kids, I taught in a K-2 Autism classroom in the Tacoma Public Schools for five years.  After leaving the school district I worked as a tutor for the non-profit, Exceptional Families Network and still work as an educational advocate for families with Autism. I am so excited to be joining the preschool team this year.

I grew up in Lake Tapps and now enjoy living in North Tacoma with my family and black lab. I have a Bachelor’s Degree from Central Washington University. During the summer, we spend a lot of time camping and lake swimming. I love to read in my downtime and my happy place is the ocean. We have two daughters in elementary school and were fortunate to have our youngest attend St. Mark’s Preschool. I have been teaching at St. Mark’s since 2015. It is wonderful to be a part of the staff at such a great school.  I look forward to seeing your children grow, learn, and play.

I am married with four children, who have all attended St. Mark’s Preschool.  My favorite thing in life is to spend time outdoors with my family.  I love to hike, mountain bike and sometimes I just enjoy aimlessly wandering. I started teaching at St. Mark’s Preschool in 2007. I absolutely love the fact that kids this age have so much wonder and curiosity about the world around them which I hope to help them retain.  I’m grateful for the opportunity to help instill the values of empathy and love towards one another and to be good stewards of this earth we all share. I am so excited to get to know all my new students and their families!

Misty Williams, PreK Teacher

I am married to my best friend Calvin and we have a beautiful 3-year-old daughter who keeps us busy and laughing. I was born and raised in Bellingham where I attended Lynden Christian High School. In 2013 my husband and I moved to Vancouver, WA for a change of scenery. Last year we decided to move to the Tacoma area to be closer again to family. I enjoy gardening, hiking, camping, and going on fun adventures with my family and our dog Lola. I taught preschool in Bellingham and Vancouver. I have always had a passion and a drive for teaching children. Watching them discover and learn about life is rewarding and I enjoy the look on their faces when they learn something new. I am looking forward to starting this new chapter in my life and am excited to be part of such a great team of teachers.

Anna Hausler, PreK Teacher

I have been blessed to be born and raised in the PNW. Growing up, I attended a Lutheran school where I found my love for teaching at a young age. I applied this passion by graduating college with my Associates in Early Childhood Education in 2015. I love to incorporate interactive circle times, songs, books, and kindergarten readiness skills into the school day. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, cooking and spending time with my husband. I look forward to this school year being filled with God’s love at St Mark’s!

Morgan Julian, PreK Teacher

I was born and raised here in Tacoma and have a special place in my heart for this community. I am the mother of four wonderful sons ranging from kindergarten to a senior in high school. Before joining the community at St Mark’s, I worked off and on for Tacoma Public Schools for about six years. I graduated from TCC with high honors earning an associate degree in arts and science. I am currently a full-time student at Central Washington University. I am working on a bachelors in elementary education and a minor in science. I was so impressed by the program at St. Mark’s that last year I moved my youngest son from the preschool he was attending so that he could be a part of the St Mark’s community. This is my second year teaching at St Mark’s and I am so excited to be a part of this team. It has truly been a joy and has only increased my passion for teaching. I look forward to getting to know each of my new students and their families, and to fostering a love of learning with them as we find out how we can all learn and grow together.
