L.O.L.
( Learn Out Loud, Laugh Out Loud, Live Out Loud, Love Out Loud)
L.O.L.. at St. Mark’s takes place each Thursday night for all middle school,
junior high and high school students grades 6-12. The mission of this night is to provide an inclusive community of holy creative artists learning to give voice to their stories in safe, nurturing space towards a common goal.
This year will be divided into five sessions (which means youth don’t meet every Thursday, just on those outlined below):
Red Session (1): October 4, 11, 18, 25
Blue Session (2): November 15, 29 and December 6, 13
Orange Session (3): January 10, 17, 24
Purple Session (4): February 21, 28 and March 7, 14
Green Session (5): April 25 and May 2, 9, 16
The Thursday evening schedule is as follows:
5:30-6:30 PM
CULINARY ARTS WORKSHOP
During this workshop, youth learn alongside adults how to cook recipes that will be served at the Youth Cafe each week. Each session will focus on a different cuisine from around the world.
6:30-7:00 PM
YOUTH CAFE
Youth come together for time to chat and to taste that evening’s cooking creations by the culinary artists.
7:00-8:00 PM
J.A.M. YOUTH BAND
J.A.M. is a “band” for all youth who play an instrument (strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion, handbells). Music is arranged for the ensemble of instruments available and plays for worship at the end of each session, as well as special events of the church. Youth are asked to commit to the Thursday meeting/practice dates in each session in which they participate, as well as the Sunday playing date.

VISUAL ARTS WORKSHOP
This time is for creativity through a number of different arts. For the first session (October 2012), youth will focus on creating Prayer Shawls by learning to knit.

IF YOU’RE INTERESTED IN SINGING…
WITNESS YOUTH CHOIR
Witness is a vocal choir for all youth who are interested in singing. Witness Youth Choir doesn’t have a regularly scheduled rehearsal, but meets according to member availability, usually as smaller ensembles, and sings Sundays when music is ready. Please let Danielle know if you are interested in being on the vocal list for Witness Youth Choir.
Youth are also encouraged to serve in worship through their voices, as solos or duets/trios.
